Recognized as one of the most outstanding cellists of her generation, Alba Urbano is steadily building an increasingly prominent presence on the international music scene. She has combined her musical training with an intense chamber music career and performances with some of the most renowned youth orchestras, as well as in leading European festivals. Since 2023, she has been studying at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid under Professor Jens Peter Maintz.
Her participation in the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester since 2022 and the Verbier Festival Orchestra since 2023 has placed her among the most active young performers in Europe, collaborating with renowned conductors and soloists in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. Since 2024, she has also been part of the Musethica project, which combines artistic excellence with social engagement through concerts in non-traditional settings.
She has been selected to participate in academies and programs such as Rutesheim Cello Akademie, Salzburger Festspiele, Fundación Pro Cello, and the Verbier Festival, where she has also developed her chamber music work.
At the Reina Sofía School, she has performed under Péter Csaba (Orquesta Freixenet) and Zsolt Nagy (Sinfonietta), and has been a member of groups such as the Cuarteto Pérez-Llorca de Haydn and the Fundación Mahou San Miguel Trio, receiving chamber music coaching from Marta Gulyás and Heime Müller.
She is currently a member of the Cuarteto Schubert, a formation created within the School, with which she won First Prize at the 2024 Antón García Abril Competition and the award for Best Performance of Catalan Music at the 2024 Montserrat Alavedra Competition (Terrassa), as well as First Prize at the 2025 "Febrero Musical" International Competition (Cox) and the 2025 Pro Música Prize.
She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid and at Stella Vorarlberg in Austria, with Beatriz Blanco and Fernando Arias, and has received masterclasses from leading artists such as Michal Dmochowski, Danjulo Ishizaka, Claudio Bohórquez, Paolo Bonomini, Kazimierz Michalik, Gabriel Schwabe, Rafael Rosenfeld, Alban Gerhardt, Norbert Anger, Kian Soltani, and Pablo Ferrández.
Her upcoming engagements include collaborations at festivals and academies across Europe, alongside a growing artistic presence on the Spanish music scene.
